The school has an early admission policy which allows children to begin school at the start of the academic year during which they reach five years of age (1st September – 31st August).

Admissions to the school are managed by the Local Authority (LA) who should contact you in the school year before your child is due to start school. If they do not do so, then please contact them on the number provided.

The admission limit for the school is determined by government legislation and Local Authority guidance; for our school at present we have a limit of 60 children per year group. The governing body does not use any form of selection for admission to the school. However, the LA uses the following criteria in the event of over-subscription to the school.

  • Children who are looked after by a Local Authority.
  • Children of families residing in the local catchment up to a limit of 60.
  • Siblings of children in attendance at the school, (living outside traditional catchment area) if places are available up to a limit of 60.
  • Children outside the local vicinity (traditional catchment area) who live closest to the school if places are available up to a limit of 60.

Parents whose children are refused a place at Martongate for any reason are able to appeal against the decision by contacting the Admissions Administrative Officer of the East Riding of Yorkshire at Lifelong Learning, Leisure and Libraries, County Hall, Beverley Tel 01482 394297
